PINE BLUFF, Ark. - With just seconds remaining in the game and the score tied at 59 apiece, Lady Lions point guard Destiny Brewton took a screen from Faith Ohanta, drove to the basket and found a wide open Shawntayla Harris who cut to the basket, caught the pass and kissed the ball off the glass for the game-winning bucket as the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff prevailed 61-59 over Texas Southern University at H.O. Clemmons Arena.

The shot marks Harris' second game-winner in the month of February while the win boosts UAPB to 4-11 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play and keeps the team alive in the chase to the SWAC tourney. The top eight teams will compete while the rest are left on the outside looking in. UAPB is currently in ninth place with three games remaining in conference play while Texas Southern sits in second tied with Grambling.

The Lady Lions (6-19, 4-11 SWAC) were led by a trio of seniors but it was Faith Ohanta who led the team in both scoring and rebounding as she finished with 20 points, nine boards and three assists while fellow Lady Lion and senior sharpshooter Malaik Muhammad produced 15 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal and knocked down three 3-pointers. Brewton dished out five assists, but none bigger than her final one which was executed to perfection.

Freshman Shania Hatter came up big off the bench and scored eight points and had one block in 13 minutes while Harris also finished with eight points to go along with three rebounds and one block. Both Lady Lions post players shot extremely well from the field with Hatter going 4-of-6 while Harris went 4-of-7.

TSU's Kaitlyn Palmer had the hot hand early as she finished with 29 points and hit a total of seven 3-pointers by herself while teammate Joyce Kennerson produced 16 points in the loss.

As a team UAPB shot 43 percent from the field and held its opponent to just 35 percent shooting. The Lady Lions won the rebound battle 37-34 and only missed four free throws all night. UAPB turned it over 13 times to 14 for TSU (15-10, 10-4 SWAC). UAPB outscored TSU 17-9 in the final period of play.

The win snaps a 3-game losing streak for the Lady Lions.

UAPB returns to action on Saturday, February 24 as it travels to Louisiana to face Grambling State University in SWAC play. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. at the Fred Hobdy Assembly Center in Grambling. On January 27, Grambling defeated 66-57 in Pine Bluff.
